Stephen Lachter began his career in menswear working for one of the leading retailer of the time Hepworth. In 1976 he joined royal tailor Hawes and Curtis, where he learned to cut and fit shirts under the guidance of West End legend Roy Woodhead.
In 1983 Stephen was headhunted to act as buying director for the then newly-launched retailer Tie Rack, where he grew the business from ten outlets to almost one-hundred. After a number of years Stephen returned to his true love of bespoke clothing, setting up a business with John Kent, eventually arriving on Savile Row in the early 21st century.
Since welcoming his old friend and colleague Terry Haste into the partnership, the three musketeers, as they are known among the tailoring fraternity, set up their business on New Burlington Street, moving to Sackville Street in 2011.
In January 2013, he became sole owner of the shirt side of the business and Managing Director of Stephen Lachter Ltd.
